So you give up every chance you get

Rubbing her eyes, Mellisa yawned for what must have been the fourth time in at least ten minutes. She was tired after being woken up at five in the morning by her phone alarm which one of her friends had set the day before. She'd been unable to fall back asleep and now here she was, sitting at the breakfast table with a bowl of coco pops and milk and slowly eating it whilst trying not to fall asleep with her head in the bowl. She had been assured by her dad, who had also been awake, that this would be highly amusing but she didn't she the humour in it. She glanced at the clock. It was just past 6:15, great. She knew there was little chance of falling asleep, as soon as her head hit the pillow she'd be wide awake again and falling asleep sitting up didn't seem the least bit comfortable. With these thoughts in her head she pushed her chair back and stood up, dumping her bowl next to the kitchen sink and then wandering upstairs.
Mellisa showered quickly, the quick rush of the water waking her up a little bit. She went through everything like she normally did. She dried her hair quickly but soon gave in when her arms began to ache. Instead she just tied it up in a damp ponytail, allowing it to dry naturally. She dressed simply in stone wash jeans, a black and white top with a floral pattern on it and a gray cardigan. She looked at her makeup and jewlerry for a moment before shaking her head, too tired to worry about what she looked like. It was nearly half past six in the morning on a weekend anyway, who the hell was she going to run into? She slipped her feet in to her black sandels, grabbed her house keys, purse and phone before silently leaving the house.
As soon as she stepped out the house she shivered. Of course it was going to be cold, it wasn't really summer anymore. Not to mention how early it was, even the sun wasn't up yet. She just kept walking though, not wanting to go back in to get a coat or anything because if her mum woke up she'd be in a lot of trouble for leaving so early. She stopped off at a small cafe, picking up a coffee in the hopes that it would wake her up quickly and effeciantly. She carried on walking, clutching her coffee tightly in her hands, the warmth from the cup effectivly heating the whole of her body. She walked down on to the beach, listening to the waves as she walked along the sand quickly. Eventually she got tired of walking and she settled down on the sand, sipping her drink and watching the sun rise. This was, admittedly, something she loved to do but normally she never woke up in time. She smiled slightly to herself, for once glad to have been woken up so early.
